Step 1: Inspection and Fibre Assessment

Step 2: Deep Cleaning and Stain Treatment

With the assessment complete, a thorough dry vacuum pass removes loose soil, dust and debris from the surface and upper pile before any moisture is introduced. This step is important for quality results – attempting to steam clean over loose soil simply turns dry dirt into mud.

Pre-treatment spray is applied to heavily soiled traffic areas and any visible stains. Each stain is identified by type where possible – tannin stains from red wine or coffee, protein stains from food or biological sources, oil-based marks from grease or cosmetic products, and dye stains from coloured liquids. The correct treatment product is applied for each stain type and allowed appropriate dwell time before the main cleaning begins.

Hot water extraction is the primary cleaning method for most Toorak carpets – a heated cleaning solution is injected into the pile under controlled pressure, agitated to loosen embedded soil, and then extracted by powerful suction along with the contamination and the majority of the moisture.
